On August 25th, Matrix Human Services received the Diversity Champion Award from Corp!
“This award feels good to receive, especially in today’s polarizing climate, this is a reminder that diversity and inclusion are an important part of success and something to celebrate. Our organization looks like the community we serve and that includes our board members. At such a large organization like Matrix, with over 500 employees serving thousands of Detroit families and individuals, it’s more important than ever to have voices at the table that can speak to the many different walks of life experienced in our community. Our success as an organization would not be possible without the diversity of our employees and we are extremely grateful to Corp! for recognizing Matrix for this award.”
– President & CEO of Matrix Human Services, Brad Coulter
As an organization that is now 115 years old, Matrix has learned the value of diversity and how it makes us stronger. We choose to lead by example of how equality and diversity brings together the best ideas while making sure no one is left behind. That is also why we serve the most vulnerable members of our community when they need it most.
To demonstrate this value, in 2020 following the death of George Floyd, Matrix held its March for Racial Justice and Equality event that more than 150 Matrix employees took part in following the death of George Floyd and others, in solidarity with other racial justice marches and protests in support of Black Lives Matter throughout the country.
Matrix continues to provide its support to diversity and inclusion through its staff – many of its executives sit on boards or committees to promote diversity and inclusions across other sectors in the area. Examples are seen with our CEO, Brad Coulter, who was recently honored by Crain’s as one of 2021’s most Notable Executives in DEI.
