21ST ANNIVERSARY ARTWORKS DETROIT TO SUPPORT
SERVICES FOR THE MICHIGAN AIDS COMMUNITY
Proceeds to Benefit Matrix MAC Health – A Program of Matrix Human Services
DETROIT (September 22, 2016) – The 21st Anniversary ArtWorks Detroit event, featuring the auction of 150 works donated by metro Detroit artists, will be held Friday, Oct. 7, from 6 p.m. to midnight at the Center for Creative Studies’ A. Alfred Taubman Center for Design Education. The evening will benefit Matrix MAC Health, which promotes aids awareness, treatment and prevention services.
Each year, ArtWorks Detroit raises funds to support non-profit services throughout the Michigan AIDS community. Originally hosted by the Michigan AIDS Coalition (MAC), MAC merged with Matrix Human Services in 2015 and is now called Matrix MAC Health. Combined with its Ryan White program, Matrix is today one of the largest and most comprehensive providers of AIDS prevention and treatment services in metro Detroit. Funds from this event will provide information, risk reduction training, counseling and testing, and case management services for HIV-infected individuals, as well as testing and referral services related to other STDs for at-risk populations in southeastern Michigan.
The evening of artistry will feature creative works of art from such Detroit artists as: Sergio De Giusti, Mel Rosas, Ted Lee Hadfield, Carl Demeulenaere, John Hegarty, Kaiser Suidan, Jeri Hollister, Robert Schefman, Bill and Mieghen Jackson, Tylonn Sawyer, Katie Bramlage, James Stephens, Laurie Tennent, Albert Young, Tom Phardel and Jeanne Bieri.
Tickets are $75 and include complimentary appetizers, spirits, musical entertainment and a fashion show. Free valet parking will be available. Tickets can be purchased at: www.matrixhumanservices.org/artworks. The A. Alfred Taubman Center for Design Education is located at 460 W. Baltimore in Detroit.
