About the artist:
Robert Bielat was a regionally recognized abstract sculptor and educator. He exhibited in over one hundred juried and group shows, including nineteen solo exhibitions throughout the Midwest. Bielat’s work reflects a rust belt aesthetic that is all his own. Collecting the flotsam and jetsam from the streets and steelyards, Great Lakes coastlines and Michigan woods, he combined and transformed these cast-off materials into objects of beauty and reflection. Bielat’s work embodies the human struggle, its fragility and decay, pride and tender hope. Robert Bielat exited this world on December 13, 2018.
This piece was donated to Matrix by Veronica Bielat.
